Floor Lamps
Place light where the room needs it with a floor lamp beside a sofa, reading chair or open corner. Its height brings light above nearby furniture, while the base and shade become part of the room's arrangement.
For reading, look at where the light falls on the page and whether the head or arm can be adjusted. For a broader glow, consider a shade or uplight that directs light into the room. Measure the space for the base and, on an arc design, the full reach of the arm. Check the power connection, switch position and any dimming controls before choosing a finish. Lamp height should work with the furniture and intended light direction, rather than ceiling height alone.
